This weekend has a really good mix—food events, live music, and a few more local, community-style gatherings that are actually enjoyable (not overly crowded or chaotic).
Here's my picks for this weekend:
All Weekend
🍔 FoodieLand Food Festival at Del Mar Fairgrounds
📍 Del Mar🕒 Fri 3–10 PM | Sat–Sun 1–10 PM
If you just want something easy—walk around, try a bunch of food, and hang out—this is a solid option. Expect a mix of street food, desserts, and vendors.
🛍️ Carlsbad Village Street Faire
📍 Carlsbad Village
One of the biggest street fairs in SoCal—hundreds of vendors, food, and live music. It’s busy, but fun if you go early.
🌮 Old Town Cinco de Mayo Celebration
📍 Old Town San Diego State Historic Park
Live music, cultural performances, and food throughout Old Town. Easy to pop in and out of if you don’t want to commit to a full event.
Saturday, May 2
🌶️ North Park Salsa Fest
📍 North Park Mini Park
Live music, salsa competitions, local breweries, community art, and a good crowd—all supporting Jefferson Elementary.
This one leans more local and community-driven, which makes it a little more relaxed and fun.
🌿 Spring Garden + Coyote Music Festival
📍 Cuyamaca College
A full day of gardens, butterflies, vendors, and live music. You’ll also find experiences with the Heritage of the Americas Museum and an open house on campus.
Good if you want something outdoors and a little slower-paced.
🌮 Taste of Cardiff
📍 Cardiff-by-the-Sea
A walkable food event featuring local restaurants, small bites, and drinks throughout Cardiff.
Good for a casual day date or meeting friends.
Quick Picks
Best overall vibe: North Park Salsa Fest
Best for food + wandering: FoodieLand or Taste of Cardiff
Best big event: Carlsbad Village Street Faire
Best slower outdoor day: Cuyamaca Spring Garden + Music Festival
